two park lane my travel journey navigation skip to content home travel world wide travel local travel budget travelling flying contact post navigation visiting cambodia on a budget posted on 15 march, 2017 by admin hello everyone, welcome back to my travel blog. today i wanted to talk to you about budget travelling. i spent a lot of time in cambodia in the past couple years, and when i first came out here compared to how i am today is very different. the biggest thing is that when i came out here at first, i didn’t really have a budget. i was staying in hotels that seemed cheap because i was comparing them to hotels back home, and eating a good meal 3-4 times a day. when i spent a month staying at a guesthouse, i would easily spend $600 a month on food, drink and accommodation. now with me and my partner living together we try and spend that same amount combined. local food we decided to try and do one last trip around cambodia with our shoe string budget, and we found it surprisingly easy. one of the easier ways i found to save money was through food; instead of ordering a pasta for each of us for dinner after having bacon and eggs for breakfast we would go out and get local food for both meals. i love this, as i love the local food and how cheap it is. this proved to be a little more difficult for my partner who likes to be able to tell what animal the meat came from. local drinks another thing we learnt was to try out the local way to do thing. this was especially true when it came to coffee. at a western cafe you can expect to pay anywhere from $1 to $4 for a cup of coffee, but if you go to the local places selling flimsy plastic cups full of a tar-like coffee-ish substance it only cost you $0.25. plus, if you are stay to drink it at the shop it will be followed by a pot of jasmine tea at no cost. these were just some of the tips and tricks that i learnt trying to travel cambodia on a shoe string. maybe i will post the rest of my tips later, depending on the readers (you) reactions. see you again soon! posted in budget travelling , travel , world wide travel tagged blog , budget , cambodia , drink , food , travel save money on your plane ticket posted on 10 march, 2017 by admin hey everybody, welcome back to my travel blog! i am sure that everyone here has had to buy a plane ticket at some point in their life, correct?
